Anyone of us will tend to agree that Dr M has contributed a lot towards development and progress of Malaysia, and hope that nobody could easily deny. However, at the same time nobody could easily deny that he also has contributed a lot of harms, especially towards the future of Islam and Malays.
Now, he thinks that he is still popular among the Malaysians. In fact, his influence is deteriorating. Remember, the time Dr M had failed to represent Kubang Pasu, i.e. his stronghold constituency when lost in the division's election as representative to the UMNO general assembly few years ago.
To majority of the Malays, he is being dislike of his implementation of 'PPMSI' six years ago. Let us look at Kenya, Uganda even Nigeria, most of their people could speak English very well, but what are their standards of living? Are their standards of living higher than us?
Again what about the Germans, The French, the Russians, and the Japanese? They use their own national languages to develop their countries, particularly in science and technology advancements, and they have showed highest achievements in those fields in the world today.
Many Malays today, who have become medical doctors, astronauts, engineers, lawyers, dentists, accountants, and architects in Malaysia today mostly from the successful usage of Bahasa Melayu who were graduated from the 'IPTAs', and almost all of them are fluent and proficient in English through their commitment and professionalism need on the language then. To us, English should be learnt in depth, but exclusively. Let Mathematics and Science subjects again to be taught in Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin, or Tamil. Hence, the understanding will be much better. We should not showing our proud when can write and speak in English. But, English should be regarded as one of the tools for us to progress vis-a-vis the usage of other languages. Remember, English is not a supreme thing or to be an idola, and not as a 100% tool to success on everything. The United Kingdom itself, is not a superior in any field in the world today, except of having the two prominent universities (as the Britons and their admirers claimed), the Cambridge and the Oxford. But highest or 100% perfect in English again is not sufficient, but what most importants are our cunnings and how to socialize ourselves easily among the global communities today.
The Japanese PM when go to foreign countries, he would talk in Japanese and uses interpreters. Not because he does not understand and could not speak English, but proud to introduce his language to the foreigners. If we were intended to further study in Japan, the prime prerequisite is to learn Japanese language first, then only will be permitted to enter their colleges or universities.
Tokyo University as one of the most prominent and best universities in the world, what is it medium of instruction? English or Japanese? Kindly check.
Let go back to the early issue. Dr M declared that his visits to Bukit Gantang and Bukit Selambau, many people came and greeted him enormously. To me, many of them did not come to support Dr M or BN, but came just might be to show last respect on him!
Prof Hamka had written a story in "Lembaga Budi" about 40 years ago. A story about a youth spectator was seemed crying silently when listening a speech delivered by a speaker in one of the religious sessions. His friend then asked him why he was crying? Was him too influenced by the speech of the speaker? He said, nope. He was crying when seeing the speaker's beards and mustaches really like his step grandfather who had passed away few years ago.
Poor Dr M. The above story more or less similar to the one you have come across recently. My advise to Dr. M, kindly cease your involvement in politics, your time has passed. It is time for you to do the 'amal ibadat' prior the departure to another world. That does not mean you will go first than me, might be me be the first. But do not to worry because an old Malay saying has ascertained, "the faster you meet the the Amighty God or the Creator of this world, means your are regarded or being loved more by Him, hence your sins will no more increase."
Dr M, please go back to the Sunnah and Al-Quran teachings. I am happy more and more non-Malays prefer to use the Islamic approaches in their social and daily life. If they quote words from the Al-Quran, that show good signs, but we may judge the values, contents and their honesty in using those words and sentences. If wrong we correct them!
The irony is many Malays and Muslims themselves do not know how to read Jawi or Al-Quran at all, then abruptly complaining. Really sarcastics. Then blame the non-Muslims who dare to use such word and sentences. amicably.
Yeah, In Malaysia today we are having the Malays and Muslims in names only, but rarely practically. Dr M, what I know, you are only reading the Translation of Al-Quran, I doubt whether you can read the Al-Quran in Arabic or not. My advice, now is the time for you to study the Jawi and and to read the Al-Quran in Arabic. English for you to concentrate then is already irrelevant to you.
You are already at the end of the another half of the world. Hope Allah swt. blessing will come soon to you before it is too late.
