Handphones Sellers in Complex Pertama Kuala Lumpur & Shopping Experience on the Petaling Street

Today, handphones sellers are mushrooming around and in Complex Pertama. Most of the handphones sold are considered as ‘underwater’. Just try to buy one, and the sellers will attend to you at first enthusiastically. Once they got your money, they would not looking at your face any more. Or once you are not intended to buy one at instant they will offer you discount after discount, and that could reach up to 50% discount. If you are still refused they will start to scold and disgrace you unnecessarily of not buying any. Do they think our monies are theirs? So easy for them to get our monies? And the monies are so easy to get away from our pockets?

If not to be cheated, please avoid buying handphones from the complex. Still they are good sellers around but about 5% only can be trusted by the customers, and hard to identify them actually. The greedy and immoral sellers will use every tactics and lip service prior buying any handphone from them. If problem arose later, they will not entertain you appropriately anymore. They only will focus to new customers as their next victims. Most of them do not bother of good customer relationship. They do not care about good service after sales. They only think for short term gain and not for long term customer service and relationship.

Last Thursday (01.10.2009), my friend Alex, a lawyer had his handphone battery bars problem. He brought the handphone to one of the repair shops there. Without checking the hand phone, the seller cum technician said the handphone had problem with the battery. Alex told him, he had used the similar battery previously but could last for about 4 years although the battery experienced body expansion. The then battery just had been replaced by original new for about 5 months! The technician suggested to buy the new battery for Alex to try for 3 days. If same problem re-occurred, the technician verbally said the battery could be returned with the money to be refunded.

Yeah, Alex could accept that but he already knew what would happen after the 3 days trial period. The battery normally would not turn bad within three days. It would problem when the guarantee just expired! Or Alex would be scolded of returning the battery if the problem still persists. The battery is not cheap, it cost about RM100.00. Every 5 months to change for RM100.00? Alex told his disappointment with the seller because the explanation given not so much convincing him. The seller then got angry and started to utter harsh words towards Alex where people nearby could hear.

Selfishly, the seller then yelled that he was only entertained business deals. Personal deals such as simple free advice or simple checking would not be much entertained. Alex further advised him, he should polite and patient with customers like him. If the technician was humble and treat the customers politely, he would get more customers through word of mouth. The seller did not care that. What his concerned was money and what the customers could give in return - again money. “No money, no talk.”

This scenario also could be experienced on the Petaling Street. Why certain Malaysian sellers, especially the Chinese behave like gangsters? If we do not buy, they will do unexpected thing to the customers. Sometime to get something that we want, they demand the money first then only the things purchased would be handed or delivered without the customer having the right to check first.

Few years back majority school dropouts were the Malays. Today, even the non-Malays, especially the Chinese youth, their numbers of dropouts are increased. And if they become traders or sellers, they are becoming harsh and rude sellers. Alex have visited many shopping complexes around Kuala Lumpur, such as the Mall, Mid Valley, Plaza Imbi, Berjaya Times Square, Ampang Park, and Plaza Sentral where he had experienced the same. Chinese sellers mostly are not helpful to the buyers. Their languages also rudest. Why do these trends increase? Because the present generations whether the Malays, the Chinese, or the Indians in Malaysia have been taught that ways? Too materialistic as what mostly the leaders do. They follow those leaders!
